6 1/2 " (165mm) Ring 42 - “Old” BGM ‘s are still considered as one of all time top smokes and one simple reason for that is their muddy flavour of wet soil. This special taste (which most likely you would not really enjoy today) still to be found in the classic cigars from the 1970’s and 1980’s has basically two reasons. First, the tobacco used those days was different to the current one as in those days a variety called Corojo was still in common use. Furthermore the original cigars are now really aged smokes. If the new BGM will ever show the flavours of the originals is a question we can not answer now – only time will tell.
As pointed out on several occasions I consider these cigars as outstanding smokes with high ageing potential. The tobacco used for these 2008 vintage cigars reminds me to the original blend of BGM back in the late 1970’s – and I would place a bet these 2008’s will show the famous mud/ wet soil flavour in some years. Give them a try – they are great smokes
